new (swedish) curtains

The best thing about today was lunch in Bergamo with Amparo. We ate at a little American-style cafe. Yum.

The best thing about my home right now are the new curtains from Sweden.

And I am going to New York as planned on Monday.

reading albums again

Not bad, eh?

To spend all day seated here, slogging my way through Montessori albums, sliding little slips of paper with comments into the plastic sleeves, trying to understand each student’s particular style, mode of expression, manner of organization and layout, trying to figure out if they have all that they need… and nothing to guide me except my own album. Whose faults and insufficiencies have become not only glaringly but depressingly obvious in the last year and a half.

I only finished one.

Ilario’s work in China has been postponed till the 18th. The best laid plans… what to do about my trip to New York? Try to change the tickets? Accept that my efforts to avoid being alone while apart from Ilario for two weeks are now going to result in us being apart for three?

I am so very good at bungling things.

Varberg kyrka and bikes

Ah, Sweden.

It was a silent week as the computer at school had crashed- what are the chances of the computers at both my places of work crashing within months of each other? It happened.

A week of un-cold, un-snow, but lots of wind and rain. Wind so strong that at one point I had to get off my bike and just stand next to it, head bowed, waiting for the wind to abate enough to either walk forward or ride again. Intense. Some cool things happened- there are photos on flickr and will be more probably tomorrow.

Now I am back in my bright and beautiful apartment, with my bright and beautiful husband, with the small and nasty flies that have taken advantage of my absence to take over.
